Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about powered
mobility options, services, and insurance coverage. We handle NSFAQs
too – not-so-frequently asked questions! If you have a need to
know anything that isn’t addressed here, contact us.
Q. Paperwork can be a nightmare. Does Mobilitywerks help?
A. Our entire staff is knowledgeable and Mobilitywerks handles
all the necessary forms for the patient. Medicare may cover up
to 80% of the cost for covered persons. Check Medicare and Other
Insurance for more information. If you have supplemental insurance
or HMO/PPO membership, it may cover the remaining 20%. The result:
little or no out-of-pocket expense for qualifying patients. Mobilitywerks
has other attractive financing options when insurance coverage
is limited or unavailable.
Q. What are the key safety features of powered wheelchairs
and scooters?
A. Today’s powered wheelchairs and scooters are engineered
for comfort, convenience and safety. Power chairs feature a six-wheeled
design that pro- vides stability and prevents tipping. A variety
of accessories are available to allow patients to operate our chairs
with “one thumb” or even by mouth. Batteries for the equipment
operate on regular house current and recharge overnight. Replacement
batteries are easy to install.
Q. What about range and maneuverability?
A. An overnight recharge primes our wheelchairs and scooters
for a range up to 25 miles. Speed is a comfortable 4-5 mph, with
turning radius of 20 inches or less for many wheelchair models.
Visit wheelchairs and scooters [internal links] for more details.
Q. What about delivery and service?
A. Mobilitywerks offers free delivery to its customers. Our driver/technicians
will arrange a convenient time and provide oral and written training
to the patient and family. We service what we sell. Each chair/scooter
comes with a full year’s warranty on parts and labor. Replacement
equipment is available in the unlikely event an in-shop repair
is needed.
Q. I need more detailed information on your models. Can
Mobilitywerks help?
A. Information on the entire line of products we distribute is
one click away – at Wheelchairs and scooters [internal
links]. Or, you can contact us and ask
for a copy of our full-color product and feature catalogs. Medicare
guidelines change from time to time and we monitor
these changes. For a current list of ICD (International Classification
of Disease) codes, contact one of our knowledgeable representatives.
Coverage, of course, cannot be guaranteed until Medicare review
is complete.
